Have you ever become frustrated when you load your brush with paint and then use the side of the tin to wipe off the excess, only to find that the paint is tricking down the side of the tin onto the floor?
If you have, you may find this helpful tip eradicates one of life’s annoying moments.
Get a thick elastic band and stretch it over the top of the tin and around the bottom so that it stretches across the open section (please see the drawing below). You then can use the elastic band for two purposes. The first is to wipe the excess paint off your brush (causing paint to simply drop back into the middle of the tin) and the other is to hold your brush with just the bristles dipped whilst you have a break or do another job.
Now in the future, you will know how to stop paint from running down the side of the tin and hold your brush without any additional expense (assuming you already have an elastic band). Always ensure that when the band is removed no pain is flicked onto yourself, another person or the surfaces just painted. Always use sufficient protective garments and eye-ware whilst doing decorating and other household jobs. With any DIY task, safety is paramount. Be careful not to ‘flick’ unwanted paint when you remove the elastic band.
